Upcoming information for Term 4, Week 4
As we enter Week 4 and begin to move into the end of the school year, the busyness begins to increase at school and outside of school for our families. There is homework, after school activities, music practice, drama performances, sporting events, College events and so much more that at times, means keeping our focus on the to do list. Our kids love being part of all these events in life, but let’s be deliberate in taking opportune moments to stop and hear what our kids have to say. Share a meal or a milkshake together at the end of a busy week– capture a quality time moment. Sit down and listen to them read aloud or start reading a novel together each evening for 10 minutes before bedtime – capture a quality, comforting time together. Take pictures of daily life moments, don’t wait for the perfect portrait – capture the laughter, capture the routine, capture the daily tasks – capture the moments and remember how precious family time is. Have a device free evening, parents too, and play a board game or watch a movie together – capture the joy of time together as a family. Growing together, communicating about the little things, laughing about the silliness, stealing time for your family even when you don’t think you have it and enjoying each other – now that is something worth taking the time to do so that we capture the moments along this journey we call life.
INTRODUCING OUR LEARNING SUPPORT TEACHER
Hello Faith Families! My name is Ruth Evans, and I am excited to start my new role as a part-time Learning Support Teacher, assisting the Coordinator, Teresa Simmonds.
I am a Redlands girl and remember when Faith was first established as a young teenager. I have always had a soft spot for Faith and am happy to finally fulfill my dream of working here.
I have enjoyed working in Lutheran schools, doing various roles for over 30 years. I am passionate about supporting students and their families and working with teachers to ensure students have a positive learning experience.
I live at Mount Cotton with my husband, Frank, and my furbaby Molly. I love spending time with my family, especially my mum, our three children and two grandchildren. I also enjoy beach holidays, reading, and gardening.
I look forward to building relationships with the students and families I have the opportunity to serve at Faith Lutheran College.

GRANDPARENTS/SPECIAL PERSON DAY - 27 OCTOBER
A reminder that next Thursday (27 October) we are hosting our Grandparents/Special Person morning. We invite Grandparents (or a special person) to join us on campus from 9am – 10:30am to do an activity in their child/ren’s classroom/s and finish their visit with a morning tea in our Koala Gums. Our Scholastic Book Fair will also be running on this day so you will have the opportunity to check this out with your grandchild or special person. At 10:30am Grandparents are invited to head over to the Secondary campus for a tour or head off home for the day. We look forward to a wonderful community time connecting together.
We know that our Year 5 students will be away on camp during this time so we invite you to ask any Grandparents/Special person that would have liked to purchase a book at the Book Fair with their grandchild to pop in before or after school on Monday or Tuesday to have this special moment together. This date clash has come about because of a change of date the campsite gave us so it was beyond our control and we did not want our Year 5 students to miss out on their camp experience this year. It is never easy when these date clashes happen so we thank you for your understanding.

TERM 4, WEEK 4 - EXTRA CURRICULAR
In order to support families and students with the transition from the end of school to sports training we will be adjusting the routine slightly. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday students will be asked to meet outside the SPAH for a 15 minute supervised afternoon tea prior to training commencing at 3:15pm (this is a change in timing from a 3:30pm start). This will be a device free time for students. If parents choose to supervise their own child in this 15 minutes that is not a problem you are welcome to make this choice.

CHESS MATES CLASSES
It’s not late to enrol in chess classes, which are run by Chess Mates and held in the library on Wednesdays at lunchtime. Chess is a great thinking game and there is a mountain of information around that tells us about the many benefits of playing. Term 4 might be the perfect time for your child to try out a few lessons to see if they enjoy it. Please visit the Chess Mates school lessons page for more information on their classes.
