JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS - From the Acting Head of Junior School
Communication Date Friday, 17 November 2023
It’s that time of year when we not only attend to tasks to finish the school year, but also think about the year ahead. Yesterday we had nineteen children (who will join our College next year) spend some time with our classes during a Transition Morning. On Monday, another nineteen children will join our classes for the opportunity to meet some new classmates and get to know their way around our Junior School. Next week, we have the Junior School Christmas Stall on Tuesday, and our Celebration of Learning (P-5) on Thursday with the Faith Carols that evening. Watch out below for information about these events.
Unfortunately, the Big Splash which was planned for today was cancelled due to the likelihood of stormy weather. The event will be rescheduled for early next year. There was no assembly this week due to the SPAH being set up for the Year 12 Valedictory Dinner.
Thank you Year 5H students for leading this week’s Worship. The focus was on ‘the armour of God’; the gifts God gives us to stand firm and do what is right. The Bible speaks of the ‘shield of faith’, the ‘belt of truth’, and the ‘helmet of salvation’. Through dress-up and song, the children shared their message with us.
With just two more weeks of school, please keep an eye out for details of various end-of-year activities. Please see the note below regarding students wearing Christmas items to school. This will happen during the last week of school, but not yet next week please.
Best wishes as we near the end of the school year.
Peter Weier
Acting Head of Junior School
‘Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God’. Ephesians 6:10-11

RETURNING LIBRARY RESOURCES
The end of the school year is always a very busy time in the library as we try to get all of our resources back and do a big clean and stocktake. To help us get this done, we have made this week the last week of library borrowing and ask that all resources (library books, home readers etc) are returned by the end of next week - November 24. We appreciate you having a good look around at home for stray items. We do charge for items which have been missing for a length of time. Please don't hesitate to contact [email protected] if you have any queries.
