JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS - From the Deputy Head of Junior School
Communication Date Thursday 21 July, 2023
As another wonderful week in Junior School comes to a close, we can look back on some fantastic activities from the Volleyball tournament, farewell assembly for Mrs Blackwell, the 100 days brighter and the E-Sports event. Thank you to all the staff and students who continue to be involved and give up their time to participate in these events. There is a lot of sickness around at the moment, to help stop the spread of the many illnesses we would like to remind parents that if your child is unwell, it is best to keep them home to recover fully before sending them to school. As the days begin to lengthen, we look forward to the beginning of warmer days and with it, hopefully less illness.

BOOK WEEK
We love Term 3 in the library because we get to celebrate Children’s Book Week! Book Week falls during Week 7 this year, August 21-25, and the theme is a great one - Read, Grow, Inspire.
We are planning a number of special events and competitions during Book Week, but one of the highlights is always dress up day, which is on Wednesday 23 August. Have a chat to your children and brainstorm some ideas for a book character they would like to dress up as. Costumes don’t have to be expensive store-bought items – sometimes the best ones are those created using a recycled cardboard box!

PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE
It’s fantastic to see students beginning to return their reading record sheets for the Premier’s Reading Challenge. There’s still plenty of time to fill them out – students can keep reading until August 25, which is also the date forms need to be returned by. Digital copies of the forms were emailed home last term. Additional forms can be collected from the library, or by emailing [email protected]
