JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS - From the Head of Junior School
Communication Date 16 June 2023
Last edition for Term 2
What a fantastic way to end the Term with a Sports Spectacular! Our students have cheered for their houses and supported each other in ways that only our Faith kids could. Even our youngest Kindy kids came out to take part in some very special and fun activities, I have to say my favourite one today is the "chuck a chook"! As you head into the holiday break, please enjoy some rest and reconnect times as a family and encourage your child to be curious as they enjoy a change of pace. We look forward to seeing you all back for the start of Term 3 on Monday 10 July, 2023.
In this weeks publication, you will find some information about Year 1 materials requirements for next term, a reminder about College app notifications, information about reading challenges and book club, save the date for our book week dress up parade, information about holiday programs and our regular extra curricular information and reminders.

HEADPHONES - YEAR 1
Headphones are required as a part of Year 1 equipment. Many of these have broken and require replacing. Please note that we don't have spare sets at school. Can you please check that your child's headphones are in working order and if not, purchase a new pair over the holidays, as we use these daily. Thank you for your cooperation.

YEAR 1 PHOTOS
Next term the students in Year 1 are investigating changes in our world. This includes changes in our environment, changes in materials, changes in ourselves, and how God changes us. We will be discussing changes in ourselves, in Week 1. For this the students will need to bring in 3 photos (could be developed or printed) of changes they have experienced in their lives (Photo are required by end of Week 1).
This could be, but is not limited to: lost teeth, hair change, height change, being able to do something such as eating solid food, talking, walking, riding a bike, skipping etc., change in the family such as becoming a brother or sister, change in living - new home, moving states etc. going to school, kindy, or day care, getting ears pierced. Thank you for your support of this unit of work.

KEEP READING DURING THE HOLIDAYS!
Holidays are a great time to read! As well as library books, students can also access our eBook collection with their school username and password. Note that this is a shared collection, so we do have a limit to the number of books we can borrow each month.

BOOK WEEK IS COMING UP NEXT TERM
Everyone always looks forward to Book Week, which is coming up in Week 7, Term 3. Many exciting activities are being planned by the library, including our regular Book Week Parade on Wednesday, 23 August. The holidays are a great time to start thinking about costumes – they don’t need to be expensive or elaborate - creative home-made costumes are often the most fun!
