YEAR 1 PARENT NOTIFICATION
Now that our Year 1 students have settled into their classrooms and are used to our drop off point routines, we are seeking parent support to continue to promote independence for your child. Year 1 parents are asked to remain on the grass side of the black fencing (at the entry point) when dropping off your child. You can still connect and chat with each other as the day starts, however, it allows your child to independently place their bags down to start the day and head off to play areas from 8:00am. We have an increased number of parents standing directly outside the the Year 1 classrooms each morning so we thank you for your support in following these daily routines. Should you have any specific concerns regarding these routines for your child, please check in with your class teacher to discuss them so that we may support as needed. There are some students who need this extra support and we will continue to work with families to ensure our decisions and school procedures continue to be in the best interests of our kids.

YEAR 2 NOTIFICATIONS - BYOD, Our World Around Us and Class Volunteers needed
BYOD Program: Students in Year 2 require a set of over the ear headphones in order for us to maximise the learning environment when our iPads are in use. These headphones support students in being able to hear sounds and listen to instructions that are a part of many of the apps we use within the classroom. Students are able to bring either wired or bluetooth headphones to school and it is recommended that the headphones are able to stay in the classroom rather than travel to and from school with students each day. If you choose to use bluetooth headphones, we ask that you practice connecting these to their device at home, with your child, so that they can troubleshoot and easily connect them during the school day. We also ask that if bluetooth headphones are in use that the charging cord needed for these is sent into school for those times when the battery is depleted.
Great news! The SSP apps on our year level list are now available through the App Store - please ensure you log in and download these so that your child can access them in class time. If you are having trouble installing these or getting them set up, please let the class teacher know as soon as possible ask that we may assist. If you would like to view the year level app list again, please click here: http://flcrjs.weebly.com/uploads/1/2/7/6/127611269/2023_apps_lists_2_-_6.pdf
Your child's diary contains all the passwords and logons for each app, please help us by ensuring that it is brought to school each day. When the diary is left at home, it makes logging in and creating independence and teaching them digital skills very difficult. We appreciate your support and help.
OUR WORLD AROUND US: In the Our World Around Us unit this term, we will be investigating materials that toys are made from. To support this, we are asking parents to help their child take a photo of their favourite toy on their iPad, this will be needed for use in our lessons from 24 February onwards. Once you have done this with your child, please ensure they show the teacher their picture when they next come to class, or pop a note in the diary to remind us to check with your child once the picture is ready.
READING - WEEK 8 - 10: Seeking reading volunteers! We are seeking parents who can assist with reading in class when swimming finishes on Friday, 10 March. If you can help (even for a short time) please contact your child's classroom teacher via email or a short note in the diary and we will be in contact to set up a time that could work with your schedule. Please note: both components of the Volunteer Induction Course must be completed prior to volunteering.

YEAR 6 NOTIFICATIONS - Munch & Crunch and Commemorative Polo Shirts
A friendly reminder that our munch and crunch snack needs to be as accessible as possible so students don't require their whole lunchboxes. A piece of fruit, a pouch of yogurt or a small container of crackers and dip are some easy options. Sometimes our timetable doesn't allow for a seated snack, so having something that the students can grab and go makes it easier. We appreciate your assistance with this.
Don't miss out on ordering your child's Year 6 Commemorative Polo shirt. Click here to place your order by before our closing date on Thursday, 17 March : https://forms.gle/EsvBB7ETf3FvsSCm6
Once orders have been collated you will receive an email guiding you to the Parent Lounge portal to make payment. Please note: Payment must be made prior to your child receiving their polo shirt. Our Year 6 Students will be able to wear their polo shirt to school on an allocated day each week once all orders have arrived. The allocated day will be advised closer to delivery time.

PARENTS TAKING PHOTOS OF OTHER STUDENTS
We love having parent helpers on campus enhancing our community and supporting our students as they learn. Just a reminder to all of our volunteers, to please refrain from taking photos of anyone other than your own child during your visit to ensure we are upholding the privacy and confidentiality of all students. Thank you for your support.

CANTEEN NEWS
Thank you for your patience with the changeover to Spriggy, we have had a lot of positive feedback about the ease of ordering. However, there has been a little confusion caused with the App asking to set up for over the counter orders; This is not a facility we offer at the Junior School. On Wednesday and Thursday during first break we do offer over the counter items to be purchased with CASH; these are small treats – nothing over $2.00. We initiated this so the Year 6 students had the opportunity to use mental Maths and cash handing, as well as counter sales and customer service.
We are constantly changing and adding items to our menu, so keep checking the Spriggy App for updates:
Thursday - Pasta Carbonara
Each Day - Beef Ravioli
Next week - Lemon Sorbet available (yum)
Please feel free to email any questions to [email protected]
