JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS - From the Deputy Head of Junior School
Communication Date Friday, 25 August 2023
What a fabulous week we have had with Book Week celebrations. Thank you to staff, students and parents for all of your enthusiastic contributions, it has been a wonderful celebrating the joys of reading. My favourite was definitely the Read Around, seeing groups of students sharing teachers’ favourite stories. Looking forward to another great week ahead!
SWITCH FOR SCHOOLS
I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of a new app we are using in the wellbeing space. Switch 4 Schools is an interactive tool used to check in with students and give them the opportunity to highlight a need to speak with a teacher if something is going wrong. Often, in the busyness of the day, students can find it difficult to let a teacher know if they need help with something that is happening, Switch 4 Schools allows students to do this in a structured and timely manner. We are keen to see wellbeing as something that is proactive, rather than reactive, and Switch 4 Schools is another tool with which we can do this. Over this weekend can you please ensure the app is downloaded onto your child’s iPad. Thank you for your support and working with us to provide a safe and enjoyable space for all our students.

BOOK WEEK THANKS
It’s been a blessing this week to see the excitement on children’s faces as they have participated in our Book Week activities. They have been able to share great stories with members of the school community during our Readaround, dress up as their favourite characters for the parade or put on their creative and thinking hats to enter our Book Week competitions. A huge thank you must go families for their involvement in Book Week and their continued encouragement of reading throughout the year.
