JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS - From the Acting Head of Junior School
Communication Date Friday, 13 October 2023
What a wonderful week we have had at Junior School. It has been a real joy moving around the campus seeing and hearing the delight of children at work and play. It is a very pleasant time of year weather wise and a great time for outside play. I think our students are extremely fortunate to have such a broad variety of play options and play spaces. (I have learnt a new game; Ga Ga Ball. Thank you students for being kind to me when I have joined in!)
In the past week we have been sharing reminders of where students need to wait before and after school. Thank you everyone for your help with this to keep our children in safe places and to allow our staff to complete their work tasks before 8:00am and after 3:00pm. It also allows our OSHC to function and support families with before and after school care.
Year 6 students continued to lead our worship this week by asking (and responding to) some of the big God questions (how do we know God is real?). The Reading Challenge Cup returned to the assembly awards, well done students on the number of books (and words) that you have read. Our staff of the week were Mrs Walker for her work in Year 3 & 5 and showing a huge heart for the students, along with Mr Morrisby for all his help in the workshop and as a student coach.
Next week, on Thursday morning, we are looking forward to having grandparents and special people spend some time with us.
Best wishes for the week ahead.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
Book Fair is on next week! There are still some spaces for volunteers to help with our upcoming Book Fair - before and after school each day, lunchtimes and during the day on Thursday, 19 October for Grandparents/Special Person morning. All volunteers must have completed both components of our volunteer induction course. Please click on the following link to register: https://volunteersignup.org/QJP44. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Book Fair will be set up in the Reading Room (at the Kindy end of the Year 2 building). It will be open each day next week at the times listed below. Parents are welcome to visit Book Fair with their child/ren before and after school, students are also able to visit during lunch if they have brought money.
OPENING TIMES:
Before school: Monday - Friday – 8:00 - 8:30am
After school: Monday - Friday – 2:45 - 3:15pm
During lunch: Monday - Friday – 1:30 - 2:00pm (students only)
In addition - Thursday: Grandparents and Special Friends can visit with the Book Fair between 9:00am - 11:00am with their grandchild/ren (please notify class teacher if you are leaving the classroom and when you return).
On Monday and Tuesday all Junior School classes will visit Book Fair during the school day and have the opportunity to fill in a ‘wish list’ to take home. There is no obligation to buy these books. If, however, you do order from the wish list and are unsure that the content would be appropriate, take a moment to check out a bit more about that particular title before ordering. Focus on the Family offer a great website that can be of assistance called Plugged In (https://www.pluggedin.com/) that offers reviews and content advisory warnings to help keep our kids safe. Common sense media is another website that can be a great resource to help parents find out what they need to know about the book your child is wanting to read also (https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews).
