Upcoming information for Term 4, Week 3
As we enter Week 3, families are settled back into the daily routine and enjoying the rhythm of the school term. This week we had our Prep Orientation morning for current and new families who will be joining us in 2023. It is always such a wonderful morning to see the buzz and excitement as we welcome new families into our school community. As I looked around the SPAH during our Orientation morning, I saw many familiar faces as some siblings of current students prepare to have their turn at 'big school' next year. I also want to take a moment to thank our current families for creating such a welcoming atmosphere, helping our new families find their way around Faith, and to understand what it means to be part of this vibrant school. Community isn't just about attending events or having your children in the same school. It is about sharing the journey, supporting each other, celebrating the milestones and being the friendly face when someone is new. I often talk about this with our students and I continue to be proud of the way they welcome and support new students. I was reminded on Tuesday morning that our students do this so well because it is modelled by the parents within our community along with our staff. Thank you for being the friendly face to new people or to another parent you are just meeting for the first time. Thank you for volunteering to help in our classrooms or come along to sports events or helping with an excursion. Thank you for being integral to making Faith the special place that it is - an energised, learning, community.
INTRODUCING OUR FRONT OFFICE TEAM
Kim Guse - Junior School Receptionist
Hello! My name is Kim Guse and I’m excited to be returning to Faith as part of the reception/administration team. I attended Faith from Prep through to Year 12. Faith has been such a big part of my life so it’s a surreal feeling to be back, but so nice to see some familiar faces. I have an extensive background in both the customer service industry and graphic designing with a passion for kindness!
At home, I’m a longtime fiancé to my amazing partner Jamie and mum to our 2.5 year old wild child, Isla. Family time is everything to us and often hard to find. So, when we can, you will find us at the beach or park.
I am looking forward to meeting all the students, families and staff. Please bear with me as I learn all these new faces.
So happy to be part of the team!
Vanessa Cavaliere - College Nurse
Hello! My name is Vanessa Cavaliere and I am pleased to be joining Faith as the College Nurse (Student Services) based primarily at the Junior Campus in Administration however, I will also be spending time on our Secondary campus to support all of our students from Prep - year 12.
I have worked as a nurse in many clinical settings, primarily in the area of paediatrics. I have always enjoyed working alongside children and their families seeking to promote positive health outcomes.
After completing my Bachelor of Nursing in 2011, my husband and I relocated to the Northern Territory. We lived and worked in remote and regional locations within the Northern Territory, gaining value professional and life experience.
My young family and I have now settled in the Redlands and look forward to seeing where this new journey takes us!
I look forward to meeting all the members of the Faith community this term.

YEAR 6 SOCIAL MEDIA SAFETY AND SUPERVISION
Recently, the Year 6 teaching team, have been made aware of group conversations via messages on student iPads. From our understanding, the nature of these conversations at times is inappropriate and harmful to others. As part of our regular learning during digital citizenship times we have spoken with our students about how to safely use online platforms and how to communicate with others whilst keeping the 5C's and their own family values in mind. We would love you to support us in these conversations by following up discussions at home and helping your child with these online conversations if they are finding them challenging or inappropriate. Whilst these issues are happening outside of school hours, they are impacting students socially or emotionally during the school day so we would like to work together to ensure digital communications students are engaging are positive and appropriate.
If you would like any further information or clarification on this issue, please don't hesitate to email your child's classroom teacher. We thank you for your support and partnership to help our kids to engage with and use technology safely. Looking for resources to help you with these conversations, there are a few listed below that you may like to check out.
