JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS - From the Head of Junior School
Communication Date : Friday 29 July, 2022
Upcoming information for Term 3, Week 4
We have had another great week around the Junior School, it has hard to believe that we are already heading into Week 4! Plenty of upcoming events and information to share so please make sure you read on, it might also be helpful to save our communication hub website as a favourite so you can look back on past information when needed. The best address to save as your favourites page is http://flcrjs.weebly.com/from-the-head-of-junior-school.html
This webpage is the landing page for all Junior School communications, just be sure to click the refresh page button if you have had it open previously so that the latest content loads as it is published.
We have had great feedback from families that our weekly publication has improved our ability to communicate efficiently and effectively, however, we are always looking at further ways we might be able to improve. If you have any suggestions, please submit your ideas to [email protected] with an email titled : Suggestion Box. We would also love to hear from our families about something we are doing well in our Junior School, so that as staff, we can celebrate how we are helping our parents and students. You can email both suggestions and feedback to our Junior School reception email. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

DRIVE THRU MESSAGE
Drop off and pick up are busy times around our school, especially our drive thru. A few reminders to help keep this procedure safe for students, families and our local residents who live around our school:
Drop off and pick up are busy times around our school, especially our drive thru. A few reminders to help keep this procedure safe for students, families and our local residents who live around our school:
- Bags need to go into the main cabin of the car. We do not want carers or students accessing the boot as walking between cars can be dangerous, creating a high risk scenario where people are unsafe.
- Drive Thru entry commences at 2:55pm each afternoon.
- Cars can stay for a maximum of 3 minutes before the will be asked to move on and find a park or re enter the drive thru. The reason for this is to ensure traffic flow continues and we are not congesting the entire street.
A MESSAGE FROM THE ECO-WARRIORS!
This term, the Eco-Warriors are supporting the Wonder bread bag recycling program. It would be appreciated if our families and community could keep your bread bags and bring them in to be recycled!
Did you know that more than half of the plastics we use are now recyclable, however only about one third of them are actually recycled?! These recyclable bread bags are used to create Polyrok which is a more sustainable ingredient, also known as an aggregate, used in concrete. The natural aggregate normally used in concrete is gravel and sand. More than 4.4 tons of concrete is produced each year around the world. It has now become cheaper to make recycled concrete compared to natural concrete which is why it is important to keep recycling our bread bags.
There is a 'bread bag bin' in the Junior School Office as well as outside the following locations: 5H classroom, Prep and the Library where your child can put their collected bread bags.
