Upcoming information for Term 3, Week 3
Arts week has been a fabulous opportunity to create and understand the many different ways Art, Dance, Music and Drama is part of our daily lives. We thank all our students, staff and parents who have helped make this event spectacular and we look forward to seeing more of this happening around our campus this year.
This week during assembly we focused on using CARE when interacting with other students. We achieved this by reminding students about keeping their hands to themselves during play times or class times. We watched a video together and then Mrs Clements explained the concept further. Next week, we will review this during assembly again and talk further about rough play in the playground and how engaging in this is not using care with other students. We encourage you to follow up these conversations with your child at home and assist them in brainstorming games that demonstrate care with others. If you would like to review the assembly video we watched, at home together, you can find the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iTPPh1d2j8

AFTERNOON BUS ROUTINE
We have enjoyed gaining 50 minutes of learning time back each week with the removal of our Junior School bus bell. However, as any procedure changes we must review how we do things to ensure we have routines in place that support our students to be as efficient as possible. Therefore, we have changed the process of how our students will board the bus each afternoon to allow for a swift exit from the Junior Campus, ensuring the bus still arrives at the Secondary campus in a timely manner.
The new procedure is as follows:
If your child gets the bus on any afternoon, please discuss this new routine with them and ensure they understand where to go and when, this will help our routine run smoothly. We have also discussed this with students during assembly this week and we trust this will help settle them into the new procedure.

The new procedure is as follows:
- All bus students to pack their bags at the end of lunch break
- At 3:00pm, bus students to exit the classroom on the bell and move independently towards to school crossing (where our crossing lady is) to be marked as present on the bus roll by a staff member on bus duty
- Once marked off the roll students will safely cross and walk to the bus that will be parked in the parallel parking spaces next to our drive thru zone
- The bus will then depart Junior campus by approximately 3:10pm and these parking spaces will be made available again for parents after this time
If your child gets the bus on any afternoon, please discuss this new routine with them and ensure they understand where to go and when, this will help our routine run smoothly. We have also discussed this with students during assembly this week and we trust this will help settle them into the new procedure.

MUNCH n CRUNCH REMINDER
A reminder to families to pack something for their child's Munch n Crunch even on Canteen days. This is an important snack time for our students to ensure they can maximise their learning in the classroom. It should be a small healthy snack such as fruit and should be sent to school each day. We thank you for your assistance with this.

PREP VISION SCREENING
Visit by Registered Nurse for Free Prep Vision Screening
Good vision is important for a child’s educational, physical, and social development. Vision screening checks for common eye conditions that may impact your child’s ability to see and therefore impact their learning and development.
A Registered Nurse will be visiting Prep students on Wednesday 17 August, 2022 to commence vision screening. If you wish to have your Prep child participate in this free vision screening program, please complete a consent form - this can be done via the link below or by hard copy form (forms are available from the Junior School Office).
If your child’s vision is screened, you will be advised of the results in writing. If a vision concern is found, you will receive a phone call from the nurse to discuss referral to an eye health professional for further assessment. If a vision concern is identified and your child requires glasses, eligible health care card holders may be assisted with free basic glasses through the Spectacle Supply Scheme.
Participation in vision screening is not compulsory. If you do not wish for your child to participate in screening, please complete the consent form and indicate that you wish to decline screening.
If your child will be partaking in the Prep Vision Screening can we please ask you sit with your child prior to their appointment to rehearse their full name and age.

LEARNING BY INTERNSHIP (Secondary School partnership initiative)
How exciting are all the happenings that are going on in our school and the broader community? One of the amazing courses that is being run in the Secondary School is called “Learning By Internship.” In this course, Year 10 students spend time exploring different career pathways, and going on work experience for 5-10 days in a chosen field. As with many things these days, Covid-19 has limited many opportunities that our students can experience, with work placements being one of these.
We are reaching out to families in our community who may have links or connections to workplaces or organisations that would be willing to host these wonderful students for 5-10 days. These workplaces could be in any industry including Doctors, Beauticians, Aeronautics, Law, Trades, etc.
If you run a business, or know someone in a business that would be willing for take on a work experience student for anything amount of time, please fill out this form: https://forms.office.com/r/kwXzusYhFi If you have any questions regarding this please contact Mrs Rhiannan Scott in our Secondary school.
